Brick Stitch – Decreasing – learn how to decrease with brick stitch, which is necessary to make triangle shapes used in many bead earrings and pendants. Triangle shapes are used also as elements in other forms of jewelry such as bracelets and even rings.
Brick Stitch Decreasing – Tutorial for Beginners
First row – a ladder stitch
1. The first row should be made using the ladder stitch. (You can check here how to do it). I show you a 7-beads row, but you can change the number of beads to suit your intentions.
The second row – brick stitch decreasing
2. Add two beads. Skip over the first thread loop between the first two beads in the previous row, and pass the needle through the second loop between the second and third bead. Then pass back the needle up through the second added bead and pull the thread taut.
3, 4. 5. 6. Add one bead. Pass the needle through the nearest loop between two beads in the previous raw. Then pass the needle up through the added bead and pull the thread taut.
The next rows – brick stitch decreasing
7. Add two beads. Skip over the first thread loop between the first two beads in the previous row, and pass the needle through the second loop between the second and third bead. Then pass back the needle up through the second added bead and pull the thread taut.
8. 9. 10. Add one bead. Pass the needle through the nearest loop between two beads in the previous raw. Then pass the needle up through the added bead and pull the thread taut.

16. Add two beads. Skip over the first thread loop between the first two beads in the previous row, and pass the needle through the second loop between second and third bead. Then pass back the needle up through the second added bead and pull the thread taut.
17. End the triangle with one bead at the top, so add it.
18. The last step is to finish the thread. You can do it by passing the needle down through all beads on one side of the triangle.
